I don't want herbicides used in Lower Rhoda lake or other lakes in Columbia County.

I'm signing this petition because the use of pesticides is dangerous for adults, children, and insects in nature such as bees (which are dying in large numbers due to pesticide use). The use of pesticides in summer camp settings is particularly dangerous as the harmful effects on the still developing children will not be seen until it is too late...

(New York, 2017-03-04)

#14

I am signing because I am concerned about the health of the children and the impact on aquatic life.

I own a couple of rental homes on a lake where there are two camps, one that has applied herbicides in the past and is planning on applying for a permit to do it again. One camp serves disabled children and the other minor children. Not only are they putting their campers at risk but all the other people and children that use the lake and adjoining lake that receives the water when herbicides are spread. We are asking that herbicides be banned where there are camps servicing young children.

My home shares Long Lake with Camp Pontiac who use herbicides and chemicals to clear their water of weeds, instead of just doing it by hand, like the rest of us. THESE HERBICIDES make it unsafe for my grand Daughter to swim, and are putting the surrounding environment at risk.

Not only are the chemicals detrimental to the immune systems of our growing youth, but they will also cause large scale death of key pollinators such as honey bees whom need to use the lake water to sustain themselves.

Adding pesticides to the lakes will create risks to young immune systems. Please support the Bills, A441 and S1371 respectively to prevent the adding of pesticides to lakes and other bodies of water in which minor campers swim. Thank you

(Ancram, NY, 2017-03-25)

The word "cide" mean poison. "Pesticide mean to poison a pest. But all of life is related. Humans are made of the same 18 proteins as insects. Every human today has many poisons in his body. Nursing infants are being nourished on those poisons. There are many too many of these pesticide residues everywhere. Continued use is irrational and immoral. I do not consent to breathing, drinking and eating more poison.

(ANCRAM, 2017-03-30)

#123

The lake, which I have loved for years, must remain free of pesticides for all of the families that use it.
