There is very little left of the Spit dune, and my property on the Canals is under threat when this dune is breached. This is now disaster waiting to happen. The beach is all but gone and the beach front properties rely totally on their revetments to protect their properties. We have to nourish the beach to push the sea back off the revetments.

#95

Urgent attention is required

(St Francis Bay, 2017-12-23)

#96

The canal walls can barely withstand the tidal action and the waves created by passing boats. These walls will not withstand the onslaught of sea waves and the residential properties will be at serious risk of being undermined

(Still Francis Bay, 2017-12-23)

#101

I have been a property owner in St Francis Bay for almost 30 years and it would be a disaster!!!

(Cape Town, 2017-12-23)

#102

(Johannesburg, 2017-12-23)

#105

We have to save the spit urgently

(St Francis Bay, 2017-12-23)

#106

I have been holidaying in St Francis Bay for 27 years, and have owned a property in St Francis Bay for 16 years. During this time I have seen the once wide beach, with dunes on which we used to leave our Hobies, deteriorate to the current state, where one can only really go to the beach at low tide. The spit needs to be repaired as soon as is humanly possible, in order to save the canals, which are a draw card for both property buyers and holiday makers. If the spit is breached, the value of properties in St Francis Bay will plummet, ultimately reducing the amount of rates that will be collected by the Municipality.

(St Francis Bay, 2017-12-23)

#108

It is imperative to save our beautiful beach

(St Francis Bay, 2017-12-23)

(Lusaka, 2017-12-27)

We love St Frasncis and its beaches or what is left of them. We live here since over 25 years and would like to do so for the rest of our lives.

(St Francis Bay, 2017-12-27)

#126

this is a Municipal and Provincial and National Govt. responsibility to maintain business and tourism for the benefit of the area and country, NOT a sole responsibility of individual citizens.

(st francis bay, 2017-12-27)

(Cape Town, 2017-12-27)

#129

As a long standing property owner and regular swallow, I am aware of the paramount importance of the spit to all of the residents and visitors to the town. Loss of the spit will cause irreparable damage to the infrastructure of the town putting many local residents out of work especially the residents of Sea Vista who would be hardest hit.

(Marlow, 2017-12-27)

#132

This issue will severely impact the entire St Francis, Humansdorp and Jeffreys Bay communities and the effect will stretch further afield as the homeowners are countrywide and from other nations.

(port elizabeth, 2017-12-28)

#133

I, the undersigned request the Kouga Municipality's urgent intervention to take the necessary measure to prevent the final destruction of the dunes on the Spit and Beach.
