Residents should not be left in the dark without any notice that their prepaid meter will be blocked. We cannot and should not put people's lives at risk - when residents have no power, the security systems cannot work, making them vulnerable to being targeted by criminals.

It is due to the problems at the municipality that the account are a mess but they insist on blocking the meters eventhough they cannot give us answers regarding the account or fix it.

Follow the example of other municipalities please. I want to invest in a pre-paid meter to avoid all the problems Rustenburgers experience with excessive billing. These should however be a solution to the problem; not an added headache.

I do not want my meter turned off without any notice given. Often accounts are incorrect and it takes days if not months to get them sorted out due to the lack of work ethics at the Rustenburg Local Municipality.

This happened to me! Meter was blocked on saturday 28 July, spent Sunday with no electricity, Monday morning spent 4 hours in a que at municipality then was told they went OFFLINE, Tuesday still sitting without electricity, took off work again! Finally get to the counter after a 2,5hour wait and was treated so badly by the staff, meter was finally switched back on and they could not give me a reason as to why it was switched off as we had credit on our account. Took off 2 days from work to fix a problem that was not even our fault, sat for 3 nights with no electricity and was treated like a dog for trying to sort things out. Not to mention them being offline. Our meter was switched off with NO warning and for absolutely NO reason!!
