Why is it that whenever the government brings up a solution it has to take away from some of it's people. Why can't the government give to the community instead of the community always giving to the government. We pay taxes from our salaries, we pay VAT for every purchase, we pay for 'license discs', we pay for education and now we must pay for the etoll as well?
Is the government agaist our prosperity?

No to the South African e-tolling, the public has already paid for the roads. Due to lack of upgrading over the years and for some reason to upgrade all in one go is ridiculous.

We as the South Africans don't want this E-toll we have rights and can say no 2 such things how will this improve freeways? The government just needs 2 improve themselves 1st, and this will be at the government officials benefits it always has been!!!

The government is wasting and stealing our money and then they still want to extort us for more because they cannot afford to build roads. this is very very wrong. Has anyone worked out how much they will be making if every single person using this road pays
R550 per month. no doubt another way for the anc to get money into their coffers so they can ride rough shod over any opposition party that may legitimse a democracy

How is it that our own goverment that we voted for? is reaping us off. we pay tax, 'license discs'and petrol increases any time. why is our President Zuma isn't protecting us from things like this. i personally get R3500 - R4500 salary, i pay tax, license discs, my car R2000 plus insurance, school fees R1060 plus transport, petrol R600 and extra's lunch tin for my son R250, Food R500 etc.....the money i earn doesn't even cover all my debts. ANC must sort this out. WE Voted!!!!!

#13 counting kilos

My question is how will they know how many kilos are you driving. I have a courier company and my vehicle goes in to jhb from potch and goes thru the first tollgate, then he goes of the highway, work in jhb the whole day and only come thru the tollgate again on the road back to potch. How do they work out the km and what do I have to pay? Or are they just going to guess and literaly steel our money? Is the etag connected to your speedometer and what if the speedometer is broken?

How many companies and transport companies is going to end up retrenching people to be able to afford the Etoll? The goverment only sees money and then tell everyone to create jobs, but this is going to be the reason why unemployment will go skyhigh!

"
South Africans, despite our race, ethnicity, color or religion, this is a time for us to all stand together and overcome this great punishment that is about to be meted to us by those who are to protect us.
Despite the improper approach adapted to the conclusion that there would be a collection of the tolls, as we were not consulted, the effect of the tolls on the economy has not been properly alleviated, especially to those of the lower class. This coupled with the recent increase in the price of petrol, would only further punish and aggravate the already hungry. We pray for God’s guidance, strength and wisdom in order to overcome this irresponsible leadership of some institutions

Please sign the on going petition http://www.petitionbuzz.com/petitions/dashr and spread the news as we need the strength in our numbers to speak for the nobleness of our cause. Viva

God bless Gauteng, God bless South Africa.

Collect money by fining drivers using cell'phone while driving. Will surely collect more money quicker, thus also creating more SA jobs

What is our President saying about this E-Tolls, cause i don't think any one has an extra R500 or what ever the amount we forced pay. Our goverment is failing us in so many ways

#21 etolls

2012-11-08 12:12

Already we are in debt from the high standard of living in SA, petrol, cars, houses, loans, account bills and now this? I cannot save R500 for myself...where am I gonna get the R500 for the tolls? I travel from PTA to Sandton everyday, and counting to 10 tolls per day. So much money is used by our Government to enrich themselves, that money should be used to pay the e-tolls. All the people in parliament will not feel these tolls as they are already subsidised

To ALL South African road users - DO NOT REGISTER for an etag. Let us all stand together on this one. The price of food and everything else will sky rocket.
