While I feel the zoo keeper and her family, Oz was only doing what wild animals do. We don't put down human murderers and they know better!

The tiger is not at fault for attacking and killing a human, it is part of it's natural predatory instinct to do so and should not be destroyed because of this. The tigers are in the Zoo's care and must have their full protection no matter what!

We put them in cages for people's enjoyment not theirs.

The cat was doing what comes natural to a predator. Animals do not belong in zoo's and people don't belong in enclosures with wild animals. Killing this endangered animal will serve no purpose and only bring condemnation upon those who sign the death warrant.

The Tiger is a wild animal and it's a risk keepers take. While it's a sad tragedy, the Tiger does NOT deserve to be killed

If safety measure are in place and adhered to this should not happen. He was doing what a tiger does. Let him live. If put down I don't feel I would actually continue to go to the zoo or recommend it.

My condolences to the victim's family. But we need to remember these beautiful creatures are still wild animals and need to be respected as such. Don't get in their enclosure while they are there. simple.

Although this tiger was born and bred in captivity, it is inherently a 'wild'animal and nothing can change that. This animal can't be punished because of an instinctive reaction to an event. This is certainly a tragedy, for all concerned. Perhaps the zoo directors could discuss this with the tiger handlers at Australia Zoo?

Because Oz is a wild animal and as such it was probably a natural act. Not his fault he is confined in a Zoo.

The tiger is an endangered species to start with and incase everyone forgot a WILD animal. Any person who signs up to work with WILD animals knows the risk. This poor tiger does not deserve to die!!

Incredibly sad for the family and friends of the zoo keeper.

Tigers are wild animals. When working with them, people accept a certain level of risk. This incident is a tragic accident. If there was some negligence involved on the zoo/ staffs part, then this should be investigated. But if it was just a freak accident that could not have been reasonably foreseen, you can't punish the animal for acting on its wild instincts. It would be like punishing a bird for flying, or a wombat for burrowing. Unfotunately, its what tigers do.

What would the zoo keeper and her colleagues want? Afterall, they would be aware of the risks working with Tigers, and they have devoted their life to caring for animals and their conservation.

I do not think he should be put down. I disagree with the comments saying "if he were a dog, he would be put down". He is NOT a dog. He is a tiger. He is a wild animal.
And, not only that our tigers are declining in this world.

zoo keepers know the risk of getting into these jobs and that they are not working with the average dog or cat. OZ has already been taking out of his natural habitat away from other tigers in his species to be in captivity for us to get some pleasure out of when visiting the zoo. it disgusts me that people would want to kill such a beautiful animal that is already getting hunted in the wild and could easily become extinct. Its disgusting if they killed this animal im sure its not what sandra would have wanted

The tiger is a wild, powerful animal, people should not be messing with them. He should be sent overseas for a breeding program, the number of tigers are decreasing enough as it is because of poaching for "medicine", don't murder another for behaving as tigers do.

It's a sad accident but you can't blame a tiger for being a tiger. They are wild and people should be aware of this when working with them. Putting down dogs is different we have them as pets at home...no one has a tiger in their house.

He only did what a tiger would do under the circumstances.
