The salary earned by social workers is discouraging. Most graduates I know are migrating to Education as a career because of the better salary.

I signed because I'm refusing to play the victim. I am change, so it is more appropriate to start with myself.

I have been in this profession for 9 years and find it very concerning that our profession is being mocked and that we don't get respected for our contribution to society. We study so hard just like any person doing a degree and yet we get compensated with so little. We also have families and need to provide for them. I fear for my life everyday....what are you going to tell me kids when I'm not there. Don't mock me and my profession. I am proud of my what I do and will fight in order for righteousness to prevail....

I'm happy that somewhere in the world there ar people who are sharing the sad feelings of the Social Workers when it comes to the working conditions and salaries. I hope that our colleague will take this oportunity to fight for the respect we deserve as Social Workers.

Its by time that our profession be recognised amongst other professions. We have a degree and be treated like we have a diploma. Most of societal problems/issues requires the service of a social worker, yet we are still not recognised and underpaid. I fully support this petition for all social work professions in South Africa.

I'm a social worker who loves the profession and I would like to protect it against unfair working conditions.

The reason why I signed this petition is because I am not satisfied with my salary as a Social Worker in Public Service.

Because we as social workers have become so complacent and accept everything bad that comes our way, in respect of our work, our job function is extremely tedious, stressful&dangerous& yet we receive no adequate acknowledgement from the authorities & is grossly underpaid for the intensive& highly needed service we render to communities in need. It is high time that our voices should be heard but can only happen if we decide to stand together and make ou voices heard...we need the voices and support from all social workers...

Social workers are underrated in our country and we the most humble profession. We go above and beyond for our clients but yet our clients are quick to complain about our services other public services departments don't think about bathu pele principals. But yet they do as they please...

Iam willing to sign this but as a social auxiliary worker this should also be applicable to social auxiliary workers as we are part of this proffesion and exposed to harmfull situasions and I ask that all SW and SAW in the private and department sectors should be paid equally.
