there are pharmacy rules for all. then how can dsp's be allowed to post insulin and medicines that travel 8 hours by road, without monitoring of the cold chain? also where is the patient counselling for mail order pahramacy patients? we in retail pharmacy have to assist patients always when the patient receives medicnes via post, but does not know how to take their medicines, especially when the geneic brands keep changing.

I am disgusted by the way Discovery medical aid wants to force us to use specific generics. What do they get from this? I know they go to the pharmaceutical companies as well to force them into some sort of deal. Who benefits from this? Do they really care about their patients' wellbeing? Just look at their offices and the cars of their management....

The fees that are published by the SAPC are and will always be ignored if they are not legislated. The system is being manipulated to eradicate Community Pharmacies, to incurr greater economies of scale in Chain Pharmacies.

I signed because at sixty, I cannot see a young man making a career out of retail pharmacy. I would love to see a legacy and a future for upcoming pharmacist before I go.

So true. The SAPC dance to the DOH music and the DOH itself is bancrupt and impotent. Their HIV and TB regimes are just that. Crap written on paper that means nothing. If the HIV and TB medication runs out it is just tough luck. I have no respect for DOH at all.

I believe medical aid schemes are very unfair to community pharmacists. some of the medical aid schemes since 2004 have been paying the rate of 26% capped at R26 and have not adjusted their rates. medical aid schemes are not paying any professional services rates to pharmacists for services rendered and the SAPC seems to be OK with that even after the matter was raised in the last conference of the SAPC. very little effort is made by SAPC to compel medical aid schemes to pay pharmacist a professional fee for services rendered to their members.

Ons bevind ons in 'n doodloop straat.Solank die kettinggroepe bereid is om teen weggee pryse te werk kan ons nie bestaan nie.Ons gee wel beter dienste maar die publiek is baie prys bewus.Voorspoed

A Pharmacist is a professional with may faculties, working a 12hr shifts does not help our health, remunaration is just not fair! Let the medication be as cheap as it can be but they should pay us a consultation fee. Doctors , Podiatrists , Optometrists, Dieticians etc all have consultation fees.

Speak to a Dr on the phone its a consult fee gone - Speak to a Pharmacist on the phone its free because we got nothing better to do behind the counter than to give free advice 24/7 always available. A slow puncture to our profession...

Therapeutic substitution is not legal for good reason and should also be highlighted.

There is no control on medicine prices for doctors or vets. We work in a professional capacity with little to show for it. It is important to build up the public's image of pharmacists. We study hard, we work hard long hours and we give a lot of ourselves. Fair and just remuneration needs to happen

because the medical aids have to much "power" when it comes to telling customers where to go and what to use.

Medical aids are abusing the medical profession. They only care about building huge reserve funds, while pressuring all medical professionals, specialists, doctors, pharmacists, etc. to comply to their rules and regulations. Forcing healthcare professionals to not give the best care to their patients, but to give the cheapest care available.

Mainly as a result of the damage done to smaller pharmacies (community pharmacies) as a result of the blatant interference of large medical aids in competition market systems by manipulation and coercion of their members via unethically redirecting then and make freedom of choice by members impossible through coercion.

I am tired of pharmacists being so under valued as a profession. We literally hold our patients' lives in our hands hundreds of times a day.We deserve to be acknowledged and remunerated accordingly as other professional disciplines are..

In addition to my previous comment, medical aids should be made aware that pharmacists, if they only stsnd together, could strike a heavy blow against them by refusing to process claims through thrm. None of them have the manpower to process paper claims.

I WANT TO SHOW SOLIDARITY BUT I FEEL THAT THE COUNCIL FOR MEDICAL SCHEMES SHOULD BE PETITIONED AS THEY ARE THERE TO PROTECT THE PUBLIC.
