It is ridiculous that an illness which every baby born in this country is checked for, does not have an up to date list of foods available for free to those disgnosed. It is a very difficult diet to follow and those who keep to the diet SAVE MONEY FOR THE HSE. Wake up and help them help the HSE save money. Its not like no one knew about the illness. What exactly is the delay?

My sister is one of the longest surviving people with PKU. The availability of these foods would enhance her life greatly. It is a difficult condition and sufferers need our support.

I know someone whose little daughter has pku. I also know someone my age who has it. It's a very serious condition and very restrictive. It's shocking that whoever is in charge of this is not on top of it. Perhaps there needs to be some liasion with the people who have it.

Its important that our children have access to a variety of foods. There are some wonderful foods available throughout Europe and the rest of the world and our children are denied access to them. We owe it to all children with PKU and the future generations of PKU patients to ensure these children stay on diet to get the best possible outcomes for them. There is a risk that they will come off diet if we do not provide them with a variety of foods and we all know the consequences of this!!
