Our Bill of right states that "Everyone has the right to use the language and to participate in the cultural life of their choice" and goes further to say that "Everyone has the right of access to— (a) any information held by the state; and (b) any information that is held by another person and that is required for the exercise or protection of any rights. (2) National legislation must be enacted to give effect to this right" Therefore what we are petitioning here is not asking for a favour but a DEMAND that our government MUST live up to its promises.

SASL need to be officially recognised because Deaf people still exist including me..I want the world to know it so that they can communicate with us..

You see people tend to exchange language and cultures of other people, may that applies same to Deaf people...

"As long as there are Deaf,we shall have sign.I hope that you all will cherish and defend this beautiful language as the noblest gift that God has given to us"

SASL must rise!

I believe that as much as the 11 languages are official so should be a language that a lot of South Africans use....

I firmly support the SASL as a main language for the Deaf people in the SA and they also have each right to enjoy a equal and full language with other ones in The SA. Good luck!

Deaf deserve the right to use Sign Language anywhere and everywhere and to receive services in the language they understand. This is a basic human right.

Sodat almal ook kan verstaan soos hospitaal, prokureur, polisie , winkels ens. Ons sukkel dat hul ons as dowe kan verstaan. Dit is baie noodsaaklik sodat ons meer kon verstaan.

South African Sign Language must become the 12th official language of South Africa. It belongs to South Africa more than English.
