Why did you sign this petition?People need to know and understand sign language as to make it easier for a deaf child to feel as part of us(african child in a firm of unity)also to make it easier to communicate with them...Raising 1 is very hard as other children can not communicate with her/him and 1 feels neglected by the community...

I signed this petition to support the SA Deaf citizens' demand that their language, South African Sign Language, be recognised as equal to the other official languages of South Africa and given the status as the 12th official language of South Africa. This will be an important step forward to equal opportunities, equal access and equal participation in all community processes.

South Africa has a large population of deaf people who are disadvantaged in accessing service where there are no sign interpreters available. As I work in the health professions field, this is problematic when trying to obtain information from patients and in explaining their condition to them

I support sign language and how are deaf people supposed to communicate with others if they dont understand sign language? Its like English is a must have language if you are Afrikaans because if you go overseas you most likely need to speak English or people that doesnt understand Afrikaans speak English. Same for Sign Language. Its no different.

The reason why i sign the petition was, i fully SUPPORT this cause.
Why, i grew up with my younger sister who is hearing impaired and the LANGUAGE we use is SIGN LANGUAGE .
Just as we all have respect for the 11 offical Languages in South Africa. I feel that the Language of Deaf Community deserve the same recognition as our other 11 Official Languages.

My Grand daughter is deaf she attends Delabat school in Worcester. I would like the government to recognise all deaf people. As they are part of our society.

I totally agree with the reasons petition is based on and in all fairness, sign language is vital and should get recognition.
