Charity and assistance begins at home so stop all foreign assistance particularly those who do not need it.

unbelievable situation having read ''how we pour millions into foreign flood zones'' many in our village agree that UK comes FIRST. Problem is our
so called politicians actions are after ''BROWNIE POINTS'' only this time they have shot themselves in the foot by reacting well after the event.
care should be taken where we place our cross at the next election.

'Call me Dave' now tells us that money is no object in sorting out the flooding problems that this country and its people currently face. Out of the bloated Foreign Aid budget, Mr Cameron, or by further borrowing which the tax payer will have to fund? One suspects the latter. How completely out of touch these self-serving people are.

make the councils and developer responsible for the drainage for the new developments not the house holders who moved in new houses with the no idea of the history of flooding only with a casual comment from sales people where has not been a problem for 10/20/30 years only because traditional drain systems have been keep open not filled in to make extra acres for more housing

Perhaps the PM and others should recall the old saying about charity and where it beginds.

British citizens should get government money to help them to recover from flood damage .As our economy is in a fragile state of recovery from the recession divert foreign aid and use that money

In my opinion this gov't has shown again its total lack of empathy with the electorate. Our country should come first when it comes to handing out money and the recent flooding is a prime example of that. The gov't was quick to hand out money to the Phillipines recently. Most of the bloated foreign aid budget is swallowed up by corruption in the countries it is sent to as anybody knows who has been to one of them. It just makes our 3rd rate politicians feel good about themselves.

listen to the electorate for once, remember who elects you and the same people at the next election can remove you from the 'gravy train'.

Money should be spent in this country now. We are the first to go to others Aid in floods, explosions etc. but where is the aid from other countries for us now!!!!!!!
Shame on you, pull the plug on foreign aid, especially India and China and the countries in Africa who do. To use the money on the poor. It's time we used that money for our own suffering.

It's about time our politicians started to look after their own populace instead of their fulfilling own selfish ambitions and wasting tax payers money by sending it abroad to other ungrateful and corrupt politicians. Can't wait for the next election.

There is urgent need for financial assistance in UK flooded areas whilst much overseas aid is misappropriated.

The environment agency should be staffed from the head down by those with many, many years years of hands-on, coal-face experience in water management and rural affairs ie engineers and agriculturalists - not by time-serving metro-politicians who know nothing about their subject who are at the mercy of sentimental vested-interest groups for advice: even their own prejudices based - in the main - on ignorance. So keen are they on wildlife protection that, due to their neglect in managing the flood plains in the Levels, they have now practically wiped out almost all wildlife on the Levels and local rivers in the last 2 months. Own-goal, or what. Not to say, 5% of the country's food-producing land for possibly years. You know, that stuff we need to eat to stay alive which is produced by all those 'lucky' people who live with acres and acres of land necessary to produce it.
Do they want to increase the country's carbon emissions by making it necessary to fly/ship in more food due to their flagrant lack of respect for, and understanding of,the countryside and its inhabitants?
