Maternity services saved the lives of My Wife and 3 children, two emergency C Sections, and one elected C Section deliveries. I am thankful everyday for the Midwives and Doctors of Portlaoise Hospital. Save the services at Portlaoise

Everyone in the country should be within a 15 minute drive of a Trauma centre. People will die if these plans for Portlaoise hospital are put through.

Because we need the hospital. We are a very fast growing county ever increasing population and a large prison population. The nearest hospital otherwise would be Naas or Tullamore both almost an hour away.also no one gets sick only during office hours.

Bottom line here is patient care.
Finances should never be a reason to make decisions in healthcare.

Portlaoise hospital has many problems but its greatest is the the lack of planning, foresight and Investment in its staff. There is no service private or public that hasn't its problems, there are many tho that are needless and useless. Our hospital is neither. It is literally the lifeline of every man woman and child and too valuable to us all to loose. We need direction, investment and resources put into our hospital, not cutbacks, poor judgement and mindless decision making.

I had 2 babies in Portlaoise and 1 in Holles St. No comparison!  The genuine care in Portlaoise was unbelievable and personal.  The tales of bad care etc do not even compare to those I could tell of Holles St. where my baby died.

Do not want A&E services closed. Portlaoise hospital is very central.

Very important to maintain full a and e services at portlaoise. The hospital serves surrounding counties also and a and e's at tullamore and naas are already overcrowded. It does not make sense either to cut the hours of our a and e because there will be even more pressure on the service and staff during those 12 hours of opening. Thus people run the risk of not getting proper care like they deserve. We are right beside a busy motorway and if there are accidents these peoples lives will be put in danger as they will have further to go to get to an emergency department. Lessening the hours at portlaoise a and e will not solve the problems at the hospital highlighted by the Hiqa report. There will be tragic consequences if this is allowed to happen.

Because im a third student nurse.. going t college in athlone institute of technology. I have done a six week placement in the ED portlaoise- and I have not a bad word to say about it. I am hoping I get my internship in portlaoise and I just hope the media give the hospital a break because out of the three midland hospitals I cover- portlaoise. . Tullamore and mullingar- portlaoise is by far my favourite. And I have many reasons for that which I would prefer to not mention.

Unfortunatly portlaoise hospital has only been given negative press lately. My experiences in the hospital have always been good and i think its so unfair that the press has been so biased. I hope that people come out and support the hospital.
