The town is growing and growing every year so services need to b kept for this reason.closing a+e will not serve anything atAll except more overovercrowding at other hospitals

I have a child with complex special needs and a husband with a heart condition and I dread to think what will happen if we lose our local a&e services which we depend on regularly. If we didn't have these services my son would not be with us now!!!

My family use this hospital's A&E it's the closest to them the other A&E's are way to far away in life or death situations there will be a lot more people dying unessasary wake Ireland and stop being a pushover stop letting the government dictate everything over there stand up for what you believe in

I signed it as I have used Portlaoise hospital to have my children and then if they sick or hurt over the years its first hospital I run too as nearest to me

As a mother of 6 children this is a VITAL service....can't imagine what would happen if they needed medical attention after 8pm

Ive attended the a&e dept on a few occasions even though i live in kildare and i found it a very good and efficeint dept, staff were very nice far more friendlier than any other a&e ive been to. It would be a great loss.

The enquiry at this hospital was always about the maternity unit ,that department is safe now and in their madness they are going after the a& e and the main hospital kill us all off and be finished with it

Too large a town and too big a catchment area that relies and depends on this service!

I signed this petition as I am totally annoyed that the HSE can end a service that the people from our town had for so many years and was working. Please don't fix what is not broken

Two children. This particularly A&E gives great service. Accommodates people as people not objects. The staff even under so much scrutiny are brilliant. Take some funding from the government personal expenses and it could stay open for another ten years!

Can't understand why the H.S.E don't sort out the problems in a&e, be it the staff shortages' or staff incompetency. We need this service locally. Easiest solution is to close a&e instead of fixing the problems.

My husband had a massive heart attack 3 years ago. If we had waited for an ambulance he would have died, if we had to drive to Tullamore or Naas, he would have died. If he has another heart attack, and Portlaoise Hospital is closed, he will die.

I believe portlaoise hospital was underfunded for too long now the report highlighted this and instead of funding it correctly they cut services. Typical. I was at the meeting with the minister and portlaoise parents from what I gathered people wanted the hospital services retained funded properly etc not cut.
