Oz is a member of an endangered species, and his behaviour was entirely consistent with the behaviour of any tiger. Hamilton Zoo needed health and safety procedures to keep its staff safe at all times that recognised the capacity of such an attack happening at any time without warning.

Because a tiger is a wild animal. It is suppossed to kill. Save oz.

Why are they putting him down? ? he's a wild animal! That's why he's in a enclosed area. To protect him and humans. Why should he have to pay for a humans unfortunate mistake when he IS A WILD ANIMAL.

Sad to hear the loss of life. There was nothing unnatural about this tiger attacking another human.

Because when we keep a wild animal contained in a zoo it is our duty to respect it's wildness and understand that, if we intrude into it's space , it will respond as it's meant to.... Like a wild animal. This is our problem not the poor tigers. It should not be put down. That's criminal, and not taking responsibility for putting it in that position in the first place.

This top-level predator behaved in a normal manner. It cannot be 'punished' for being what it is.

Oz is just an animal for God sake. He must be in jungle, not a cage. Now you keep them here to make money. You work with a wild animal, you must be careful.

Because I believe he shouldn't be punished for being put in the situation where he could harm a human.

Don't penalise this beautiful animal for purely being itself. A beautiful wild animal

The whole point of having these animals in a zoo is for conservation, they are wild animals and although I feel extremely sad for her family that they have lost her she was in the wrong place at the wrong time. Don't kill a wild animal for doing what instinct tells them to do.

Big cats are wild animals, what happened was unfortunate but the tiger should not be destroyed. It is also one of the rarest animals in the planet, do we really need one less of these apex creatures?

Nothing is going to be achieved by killing this tiger.

I don't think it's fair you put down a beautiful animal like that because it was only doing what is natural to it. Up precautions taken when around the animal.
Save oz

I also agree such a beautiful animal kept in between 4 walls and nothing to show but be held in captivity when all they won't is a natural life to be able to make a family of their own choice and enjoy the company  of their own being etc unfortunately they are wild and every person who enters that cage is signing there death notice so therefore oz is not to blame and as for dog's they are also wild but there's a big difference dog's are set free and these poor animal's have no life.

Shouldn't kill this beautiful animal for doing what is natural. Maybe adopt the policy of Welington Zoo-no keepers enter enclosures

The cat is only acting naturally. It would be wrong to kill it because of a persons tragic mistake.

Don't put down a wild animal for something that is in its own nature to do.

As hunting is tiger's nature and they just hunt the prey even it is human or animal for food.

he is a wild animal and we have him locked up. It isn't his fault for doing what he knows. Its tragic for the zoo keeper and her family but he knows no better

At the end of the day he is a wild animal and endangered no person should be able to be in direct contact for this terrible event to have occurred.
Deepest sympathy to the family and zoo staff.

It's not Oz's fault.. The keepers need to take extra safety precautions around these sorts of animals. It's a natural thing for that animal to do is to attack us, they don't know any different! Why put it down??!
