#101 Our Country

2014-02-12 11:11

We have to stop giving to foreign aid when we are suffering in our own country some of the flood victims could end up destitute and need help Now.There is also the question of planning permission granted to house builders on areas that are known to flood or the building of estates that could lead to flooding.

I totally agree that unless we look after ourselves we cannot help others

I would like to know how many countries are raising aid for the victims of the floods in this country. When there is a disaster in other countries different charities start hanging out the begging bowl trying to make us feel guilty and donate, well it is our turn now so how about it.

It is time this govt, stopped sending British tax payers money overseas for useless causes like lining the pockets of corrupt governments. This money is needed urgently in our own country.

Good luck with this petition. Money should be spent on our own problems before others

Let us help our own people in their distress. Each one of us unaffected will surely appreciate their devastation in losing their homes, farmland and animals. And money to China -WHY ????

I totally agree with every comment here. This selfish, thoughtless, inept Government only lines their own pockets and stuff the rest of us. This is a DISASTER. ! ! ! ! ! STOP FOREIGN AID !!!!! We cannot afford to send rockets to outer space so why help other countries to do so. Being part of the EU you think we would have help from them. GET OUT OF THE EU AS WELL ! ! ! !

I am not against overseas aid,but we must first of all look after our own, then having done so,we can then provide aid overseas.

This petition is `absolutely right` - It is totally ridiculous to hand over these vast amounts (billions) to other counties when we should be helping our own people out.    Dear Mr Cameron  as a conservative voter - you have definately `lost my vote` at the next election.

Always told 'charity begins at home'but obviously everyone doesn't agree with this.Paid, and still paying taxes, all my life but UK seem to be the last in line to benefit.Need a government who live in the real world.

We are one of the smaller countries who contribute to world aid, let the larger richer countries do their bit . We need the help now.

I am glad at last we are trying to get the UK Government to think about us rather than trying to please other countries. There are times when the Government seems out of touch with the public.so much aid is wasted.

We should be helping our own people before spending money abroad. We have donated a lot of aid abroad for other countries when they are in need. Now it's our turn.

most of our cash sent overseas is NOT spent on the people that it is intended to help. our government is far too incompetent to effectively moniter aid
monies. this money should be used to relieve hardship in our own country.

Money given to foreign aid now needs to be used in his country for the horrendous disaster some of the population are now enduring .For the Government to comment that it will not use money put aside for foreign aid means, that money already ear marked in this country for other important projects is now going to be poached for flood defences .Not withstanding the ridiculous waste of money the Government and local councils manages to fritter on largesse extreme causes shows a complete disregard to the electorate. In our County alone the local council has made vast cuts. All of these have deeply affected the elderly, the disabled ,the homeless and youth projects. Robbing Peter to pay Paul is simply not acceptable . Use the foreign aid disaster fund!

Elderly neglected, children/families unsupported. Now this - our own flooded country neglected.
Does the country and its people matter anymore to this government or the previous one. Our money is used without any consideration of what we want it to be used for. Problem is, who do we put into government next year.

There is absolutely no chance that the arrogant, political elite (or as Nadine put it "arrogant posh persons") will take any real notice of the suffering of ordinary paople or transfer a penny from the "politically correct Overseas Slush Fund" to help our own citizens who are in need of real help. As the floodwaters receed so will the political interest - which will return to really important issues such as banning smoking in cars!
