The tiger is being a tiger, he doesn't understand that he's in (we have put him in) a zoo. If he is destroyed we will have robbed him of a natural life, then robbed him of a long life, because of what he is. It is our fault, our desire to impose human rationality on an animal and our failure to see this from the animals perspective that has led to this. Leave him alone.

Because the tiger made a mistake, everyone makes mistakes. It is awful that he took someone's life and my heart goes out to her family and friends. but how many inocient animal lives have humans taken. we have nearly run this beautiful rare species of tiger into extinction, demolishing there habitat, killing them for there skin, hunting them because we feel like it. Humans are recking the earth if we hadn't taken out so much of the Sumatran tiger population, there would be no need for a breeding programme therefore the zoo keeper would still alive today. Oz the tiger has a right to live, imagian living in a cage your whole life. I'm pretty sure you'd feel like killing someone. It's not Oz's fault that the zoo keeper was killed. Its our fault.

Because it would be morally wrong to kill the tiger

This is a wild animal, kept in a zoo maybe, but still wild. It's a tragedy that his keeper was killed however this beautiful animal does not deserve to be destroyed for doing what is natural for a wild predator.

It is tiger's natural instinct to attack when it thinks that it is in danger. What happened was an accident an oz did not intend on hurting the zookeeper. I do not think that he should be put down.

There's a bloody good reason why these animals are kept in cages and do you think he had a choice about that? No!

The tiger didn't ask to be put in the zoo. He was only following his natural instincts. How can he be blamed for that?

Because animals need a voice to defend them

Wild animals belong in the wild. The only reason we place them in zoos or wildlife parks is to protect them from Extinction due to the unfortunate reason----- Us human beings. We as a race contribute to our shared environment diminishing. We need to look after this precious Gift -Earth so we can all survive together. We NEED to be the reason why they have survived.... and then We may have a chance to survive with them. LET US SPEAK FOR THE ANIMALS THEY NOW DEPEND ON US.

I feel that what happened was an unfortunate accident. Oz should not be killed for behaving like a tiger.

Humans must remember these beautiful creatures are wild animals with the instincts of wild animals. This death, Is not the tigers fault and he should not be put down because his behaviour was one of his natural instincts. My heart goes out to the keeper and family.

Because it is wrong to kill an animal that is kept in captivity that is simply displaying its natural behavior

Very sad for the zoo keeper but I don't believe an animal that we all know can and will kill instinctively should be put to sleep for doing what he knows naturally. Please don't put this endangered species to sleep. I am quite sure Sam wouldn't have wanted Oz put to sleep.

The poor tiger does not deserve to be killed. It is only acting on instinct.

Animals in captivity cannot be blamed for behaving in ways that are inconvenient to humans. They shouldn't be in captivity - and this animal already has a life sentence. Who is cruel enough to make that a death sentence? Better to habilitate him for the wild.

Whatever happened, wild animals are dangerous and cannot possibly be held accountable for behaving how God created them when WE are in THEIR personal spaces!

Don't kill this tiger, a life has already been lost which is tragic enough. This is a wild animal that was protecting its territory. It does not deserve to be put down. My condolences to the friends and family of the zoo keeper. Very sad that such a thing has happened at the Hamilton zoo.
